Key Factors
Movement Off the Ball Turns/Shimmys/Feints losing your marker Anticipation Communication Change of pace Blind Side Movements Warm up to consist of 20 x 20, turning, jogging, sharp movements, stretchingb etc........ Technique: Groups of 4 passing a ball around encouraging players to make quick movements outside the 10 x 10 calling for the ball. Get players to understand different techniques to use to create space, i.e. shimmy, feint turn, spin off etc... Skill: Introduce a defender to close down players 3 v 1, get free players to find space and movements to encourage a clean easy pass. If the drill is too easy create a 5 v 3 scenario. this emphasises the need to create that extra space. SSG 4 v 4 In a 30 x 30 area with a golakeeper at each end players play against each other practicing all the turns and movements to create space and attack each goal. There will be support players on the sidelines who are neutral and can be used for 1-2 situations. warm down: gentle jog Stretching cool down Hope this is enough and sufficient for the assessment Regards, Trevor Last edited by Trev Knight : 09-01-2008 at 11:06 AM. |

Looks good to me. The format has changed since I did L2, our SSG were 6 v 6.
Key factors we were given. 1. Possesion 2. Movement to create space 3. Movement to exploit space 4. End product (Goal or back to 1) Coach all players including GK. Remember that a player can make a run to take opposing players away, to create space. I had a similar topic on my first assessment which I failed. I coached my players into positions I thought were good, but was too attacking. The assessor said, that if my attack broke down, I had no sufficient cover. Just a point to bear in mind. Good luck, let us know how you get on. |

Thanks for the advice.
I didn't think about if everyone pushed forward we would be exposed at the back, I also like the idea of coaching the GK to look for space and opportunities. My assessment is Sunday so will let you know how I did. Thanks again! Trev |

Hi Trev
Your session content looks good and appears to flow nicley. A couple of pointers to remember: Start and finish with the same number of players (you cannot add or sub players from the various elements) Coach one team only in the SSG You cannot coach the GK if you have 4v4 as he would make a 5th player (concentrate on the 4) Remember you can create space as a team or as an individual You can also create space WITH the ball (1st touch) Best of luck |

Based on 74OffSuit's comment and DB1's comment, my suggestion is that you talk to your instructor first so that you know whether you have to coach one side or both side, and whether it is 4v4 or 6v6. I understand it has changed recently and judging by some posts on here (and I've been here since week 1) it seems different counties are changing over at different speeds.

Hi everyone,
Well, just thought I would update you on my final assessment. I failed as the assessor said that because I had loaded my team in the skill section i.e 3 v 1 etc.......that the players were not creating space as they were already in space and therefore exploiting space! The assessor wanted to see a 1 v 1 environment in which the player would then create his space having lost his marker?? Everything else was fine, coaching points, key factors etc....so the long and short of it is I have a re-assessment in 2 weeks and have to change the skill element to a 1 v1 / 2 v 2 etc..... which I can't understand but hey, I don't make the rules! Anyway, there ya have it! Regards, Trev |

Sorry to hear that. I really think that teaching to the test is the most important aspect in passing these things.
But since you've just taken the assessment, did you have to coach one side only and did you play 4v4 or 6v6? Best of luck to you on the retest. Many here have failed the test a first time; I am part of that unfortunate fraternity, so best of luck.

I feel for you Trev. I remember that NYC feeling oh too well!
As I was saying, I did the old level two, and it does look substantially different to yours. Am I right in thinking you get an overall theme, that you deliver in a technique, skill and SSG? It took a bit of soul searching and a lot of support from people on here to motivate me to retake mine, and I am glad I did. If there is any further help we can provide we would be glad to do so. Keep us posted. |
