It depends on how commited the players are, if you have eleven or twelve who are there every week, then not so much need for a bigger squad, injuries aside.
If you have a larger squad, play them all regularly. It is your job to improve every player you have, this is more important than the result of any match. |

I had a squad of 18 this year, and everyone showed up regularly. Let me tell you, I would have been happy with about 15 as I hate subbing alot. Lucky for me also, there was no injuries.

Having 18 players is tough on a roster. If you do have 18 you need to play all of them so they all get exposure to the game. Granted even tho the club states we dont have to play them all.. I personally just dont feel right on asking a player to join the team and then have them sit on the side line most of the year.
I prefer about 15 players....

Lads have alot of studies, and are playing a higher level, so I'm trying to get a squad of 18. As we can use 5 subs, only 2 will drop out a week, but as with studies some won't be able to make it, so it should be ok.

The challenge is knowing whether you have players who show up each and every day, and whether you have dilettantes. If everyone shows up all the time, regularly, then you do need only 15-16 players, but if you have people who show up irregularly, then if you keep only 15 players on roster, I guarantee you'll have a game one weekend where you only 12 players....

Have finally given in and taken on 18 this season. We are now 16s. Previous seasons never any more than 16, used to dislike having to play that many subs.
Will work out ok this year we hope, the situation has been explained and players will miss games here and there, they have the opportunity to not sign for us if they aren't happy with it. |
