Hi all,
I've just finished my week long course on the Level 2 badge and it was fantastic. Totally changed the way that I think about coaching and how I will coach going forward. We covered all the different areas of coaching during the week and by Wednesday I was mentally and physically knackered! I had a practice assessment on Thursday which was "Coach to improve Running with the ball" and I did OK but I was given action points to improve on my technical demos and coaching individuals more. We only did the technique into skill for this and not a 4v4 SSG. At the end of the week, we were given another topic to be evalutaed on when we come back for a support day. This time it's on a 4v4 SSG. I've got "Defending when outnumbered". Any advice is welcome. The main messages I got got form the course were: Stop the play Rewind Coach the problem/better option Demo it by "Let me take your place" Get them to "Play Live" Get out and Observe and see if they understand Make sure you know the Principles of Defending/Attacking/Heading etc We had three of the top coaches in the county take us through the week - I really feel positive about going on to gain the badge in a few months time so I just need to practice - a lot! |
