Exclamation FA Level 2 +3 Courses

One of the forum members Chad raised a very interesting question below is an extract from his post:

Quote:
"The one thing I did find with the course, and it has been a frustration of mine on every FA course I have been on, is that you are not given a pack with all the coaching sessions set out so you can add your own notes to it. You have to rely on your own notes and diagrams, which when you are being a player in the session may only be quick notes before the next session. I don't think the FA and the coach educators have thought about the candidates and assisting their learning, especially when you go away to practice the things you learnt during that week, before the continuation days. I don't know if anyone does a pack which people can buy or get access to? It might be an idea for this website to include a section on it in the future."

The full post by Chad can be seen here
We are planning to set up dedicated areas of the website specially designed for coaches taking their Level 2 + 3 badges. We plan to mirror the curriculum of the courses and use our 3D technologies to explain all of the different practical areas. We also have some ideas to make the drills for the course interactive to really help you with your learning process rather than just setting and watching them. Along with a new and enhanced version of the Coaches Chalkboard software to allow you to design our own drills that can be used as evidence as part of the course.

If we get enough positive responses from coaches that this would be beneficial, we can push these task to the front of the queue and get theses areas of the site added quicker.

If there are any coaches out there who would like us to add separate areas of the website geared specifically in helping you pass your FA Level 2 + 3 badges, register your interest by replying to this post and why you feel it would be of benefit, if you also have any suggestions on specific areas that you feel could be of benefit due to lack on textual information provided by the courses themselves, please do give us your ideas.

Hi Chris,

it sounds like such a good idea to have all the levels information on the site. It would amazing as for me I have played a high level of football but still get lost with what the coaches are asking for. My fiane exam is to cover when to pass to feet or space in a POP, we never covered it in a POP but we did in a SSG, I have also been asked to deliver the responsibilities of a wide player once shown in side in a function, this we never did in a function but in a POP on the course days.

the problem is if your going to ask the students to do something they have never been show are they not been set up to fail ?

That is why it is very important that your website is hear, I would love it if mike would beable to but those topics on the site before my exam in January.

thank you

Hi Chris,

I totally echo mackys post. It would be agreat idea i take my level 2 in two weeks & i am already panicking.

The level 2 course is pretty intensive & when it's over a lot of things can get forgotten so it would be good to set up a seperate forum for coaches to give help & bounce ideas of each other.

Default Level 2 and 3 courses

As Chris explained, we are going to set up a new area dedicated to level 2 and level 3 courses. It will start with level 2. The idea is to put together 3 x animated drills for each coaching topic on the course, these would also involve some interactive e learning. In addition, using the new coaches chalkboard software, we would post a number of other related coaching ideas relevant to that particular topic. There would also be a design facility that would have templates of all the topics, pitches, grids etc, with the players already in them so that the user can design their own session plan, save different progressions and ideas and save them in folders, a bit like favourites on the browser. We hope that on this forum, members of GRC would be able to post and share their Coaches Chalkboard design graphics to get feedback and ideas from other users. We will also offer it to tutors to aid their teaching on the courses. This will not be an official FA tool.

We would be very interested in hearing from anybody who has any ideas on what you think should be in this package.

Why not use this forum to share ideas if you are taking any courses

Hi there,

What you're planning sounds like a useful resource for any prospective Level 2 or Level 3 coach.

On my course we had the opportunity to purchase a 'book' by Jim Kelman which contained a lot of really useful info - has anyone else seen this?

Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of producing an aid for people doing their FA level 2 as part of my university dissertation. I've been working on a key element which was to create a 3D-Dynamic drill creator. I would be happy to inform and show everybody my progress throughout the year, and offer it to this site for any people who require help in doing this award.

Like I said in my introduction, Im yet to do the Level 2 (doing next year hopefully) but the basis of my product will be in place so I could change things around upon actually going on the course.

I'm hoping I could use some of you guys to test my product out. Your help will be much appreciated. Plus, any other features that you think will be useful, let me know.

Thanks

Sukhraj

This sounds like an excellent resource Chris.

There is a lot to take in on L2 and a distinct lack of resources available, away from the course. There are some excellent US sites, but they do not deal with L2 and above specifically.

I do not want to be 'handed' the qualification, but I want to know how to think for myself, to implement the requirements of L2.

Hi darren

It would be possible to take the course, but I would not recommend it. As the demonstration phase of the coaching formula is a big part of the course. You could use a player to demo but it is really making things more difficult for you.

Hope your knee heals up quickly.
