Children mature at different rates and this is no different for GK's. By the time the child is 12 you(Coach) should be able to notice what skills are prevalent in the child and whether the limited skills that need developing are thoughs that CAN be coached, like position and those that can't be coached, just like maturity. Positioning and Courage can cover a lot of ground but maturity only time can handle.
