Need Advice - new to site

Hi to all ! I am actually on here because I am looking for a great gift for my boyfriend who is a Club Coach, this is what he does for a living w/ a degree in Sports Psychology and he played pro for 16 yrs in England.

My point is I am wondering if a software program to assist him in developing his training sessions (such as the one offered here on this site ) is a useful tool?

Additionally, how practical is the use of a tablet PC using this software on the training field? I want to get him something high tech and cool but I want it to be useful and something he will be wowed over. Not looking for gift suggestions ...I just want to know if this program has any awe factor to it as well as utility. He coaches for a club at a high level of play: Olympic Development Teams etc.

I realize that you guys talk shop here but I was hoping that I could get some input from the guys who would know ... and that would be you.

I think the software here is pretty valuable, especially at the level he's working with, and to be honest, there are lots of competing programs out there. I'd be happy if any one them allowed the software to be downloaded and then you could take it with to allow kids to see what you want done on the practice field. But, if you have good wireless reception on the field, you could access the internet right there, but then you always have the problem of the technology working when you have the kids in front of you.

The art of coaching, though, is about connecting with youth when you have them, so going techie on the field could cut into this connection between coach and player.

A better gift (other than a new truck for all the stuff he has to carry to the field ) might be a digital movie camera so he video practices/games. Though, who can argue with a tablet PC???
