Default level2 pass rate

I am glad you have realised it. Go back to your post before you passed your assessment and have a look at the last sentence highlighted.

I don't think the portfolio comes into it now, since the final assessor only signs off task 16. The internal is responsible for the portfolio. It is judged on one session on one day, but the candidate should have been given at least 2 weeks notice of his/her topic and therefore plenty of time to practice.

There are no national pass rates if you are good enough you pass, if not you don't, but it is subjective. However tutors are well trained and for the first time this year monitored for quality assurance purposes.

On my course the final assessors viewed the practicals, but then they also looked through the portfolio and the rest of the folder (even though this had already been signed off by the internal assessor) before interviewing the candidates. Obviously, I don't know how much they took into account about the portfolio, but from the feedback I had from mine, I think he had a really good look through the folder. Each candidate was called up one at a time for an interview with their assessor. Most were told straight away if they had passed, and there were no additional interview questions. One of our candidates, however, was borderline and was given an additional question / scenario to help his assessor make the final decision - he passed.

Also during the practical week he also fell asleep during a coaches practical session as well.

Can I ask what exactly is expected in the final assessment for level 2?

Thanks
And we ALL know the name of THAT assessor don't we?
This particular assessor is well known for 'Jobs for the Boys' passing **** ex Pro's but keeping really experienced coaches from passing.
Why is that ONE person holds your whole future coaching career on a personal opinion?

These are my thoughts on Level 2 (which I'm half way through presently, having just done our intenal assessment):

There were 16 of us on the course at the start, there are now 14. We've worked these last 4 consecutive weekends (sats and sunds) 9 til 5 and had course work to do. We all have to fit this in around family and jobs.

The tutors have been on average 'excellent' and we've all completed our First Aid and Child protection now too, as part of the course.

The folder of reference material along with the 3 DVDs which we were given at the start, has absolutely everything you need to pass the course. Although I doubt too many people on our course have actually looked through/watched them all yet.

The DVDs in particular contain technique to skill to SSG for ALL the 'topics' given for Final assesment. How many of you realised that?

In our group we have 3-4 pretty good footballers and 2-3 people who have difficulty with basic techniques; like passing and receiving a ball. And there are 2-3 people who have such an attitude problem and/or lack of self awareness that you wouldn't want them anywhere near your team as a coach.

65% of the candidates on our course are Dads that got into coaching because their kid(s) plays football and the team he was in was about to fold because the manager/coach was no longer prepared to carry on. I think this is a pretty typical scenario and is the inducement for many people to become 'coaches' at many clubs.

Of the 14 people that are left I'd be 'horrified' if 3 or 4 of them passed the course and I'd be shocked if 7or 8 of them didn't.

The majority of the coaches on my course were Dads and I do not think many if any returned to take a reassessment (10 out of 12 failed it) most were of the opinion that it was a day off work plus expense of resit. In the long run it is football that will suffer.

Default Level 2 re test

I failed my level 2 on my first try, as did 8 from 16, I decided to get my act together assessment and put the hours in, I asked the same assessor to assess me, I paid his expenses, did the re assessment at my club with my players and passed easily.

I didn't deserve to pass first time, but did the 2nd time, I know people who failed on my course and then tried to blame anybody or anything but themselves.

Fail to prepare.....prepare to fail
