Default Aspiring Goalkeeper!

Hello!

I was just look up some coaching methods on the 'net, and I came across this site. I'm not really interested in the main site, just the forum, and what all you guys have to say.

So, I am a fourteen year old goalkeeper. I've been playing in goal since I was six. I know what I'm doing, and I'm pretty good (not trying to be cocky or anything).

My problem is, well, that I live in Ireland. This mightn't seem like much of a problem, but, as most of you will know, the standard of football over here isn't exactly top-notch. It's not professional, and no big clubs have academies or anything along those lines.

What I'm saying is, the fact that I live in Ireland makes it much more difficult to make it in England. It's still do-able, but, realistically, it is tougher. As you'll know, clubs can't sign you at schoolboy level, unless you live within ninety minutes of the training ground.

Do you guys have any suggestions for me? Anything that could help me, with regards to getting a trial, or anything really, with an English club?

Anyway, when I'm sixteen, I plan on doing my FAI coaching badges with a friend of mine. I'm quite looking forward to that. I already have a good footballing mind, and I understand how everything works.

So, I just thought I'd tell you guys a bit about me. I look forward to seeing you guys around. Cheers!

Welcome to GrassRoots.

I suppose there isn't that much you can do about where you live, best thing to do would be to try and get into one of the biggest teams in Ireland, then from there into the National youth team. That would make getting spotted one hell of a lot easier - Though I know it's easier said than done.

Matt.
