Default Get Your Geek On -- Harry Potter VII out in a week

Anyone else here love this series, or is the continuing phenomenon huge only in the states? A couple random predictions for this last book:

1. Snape is NOT evil. He killed Dumbledore on a promise made to him which will allow him back into Voldemort's inner circle. As well as allow Voldie to move out of the shadows so that Harry can finish him off.

2. Lots of fan hype concerning the final battle, and in America, there is surprising traction around the notion that Harry will die. Not going to happen, and I'd bet the house on it.

3. Malfoy has to face down his dad. Draco is a little snot, but as he proved when he was unable to kill Dumbledore, he's not a killer. Plus he'll be ragged so hard over his failure to do so, that he'll learn that Death Eaters make really poor friends.

4. Rumor has it that Kreacher was not due to be in the Order of the Phoenix movie (since so much had to be weeded out) but that Rowling made him be inserted, along the lines that he's got a future role that will require this previous exposition. So I foresee a Dobby - Kreacher smackdown, with Dobby winning.

5. Hermione and Ron do it, but very, very off page and so veiled that the average 10 year old completely misses it.

I've enjoyed the series, and many of my kids have read the books over the years, but at the end of the day, I can take or leave them. I've preferred the books over the movies, just because they're better.

As for predictions, the only unique one I've got is that Neville is going to go mano y womana with Belletrix LeStrange. Maybe even better than Harry's battle with Lord V.

SPOILER ALERT*****

READ NO FURTHER..... unless you've already finished.

Just to keep you honest, Val, let's see what your score was (and I can do this because I didn't get drawn into the predictions game).

1. Right on the money. I'm not sure what you mean by Voldemort moving out of the shadows.

2. Right on this as well. Lead characters just don't die. I also knew Ron and Hermione weren't going to die either.

3. I get your point about Draco's rehabilitation, and obviously he's changed, but no face off with his dad. The total humiliation of the Malfoys, starting with Lucious losing his wand, was very interesting. But no points here.

4. Great to see the rehabilitation of Kreacher as well, and I think Dobby's death was the saddest. But no points here.

5. Neville didn't go against Bellatrix, but he certainly was the big star of the battle of Hogwarts, what with keeping the Dumblodore's Army flame going and killing Nagini. I'll give it to you here.

So, 3 of 5. Pretty good.
