OK, for all you followers of the international game, (and maybe for those that speak Spanish) is it fair to compare Messi to Maradona, as this piece from some Spanish television program?

Its fair to compare the two goals for sure, Maradona went past the likes of Peter Reid(!!!!) and Messi went past the 'stars' of Getafe. Both confident, fast attacking goals with the end product in mind early on.
Comparing Messi to Maradona however....I should think not!

Hmmm.... Going to have to start finding another source for clips, because many of these are being removed from youtube due to copyright issues...

Well, you need to get Fox Soccer Channel, or find a bar that shows it, because the World Cup every four years just doesn't cut it anymore. All four Champions League semifinal games showed the class of the modern world game. Kaka's and Seedorf's goals were simply class unimagineable still in the US and college games. Though I admit it was nice being able to watch the game on ESPN (my basement TV isn't wired for digital cable, so I have to watch FSC upstairs in the breakfast nook).

The Women's World Cup was pretty big here in the States, so for those who don't follow too closely, here's got to be one of the all-time great world cup goals, male or female.

There was so much wrong about the WNT's performance in this cup and in this game, that it's almost frightening that no one seems to care how easily Tina Ellertson (the defender who gets so used by Marta) gave up. When grabbing her failed, she jogs towards the top of the penalty box. Really pretty disgraceful.
