Well we don't mean to sound nasty, but do it the other way around - then at least you can claim to have had some part in creating the session.
A good coach should be able to think of something themselves, and a developing coach should be able to ask for advice on how to improve it. |

You need to post what you have already got, so other coaches can add to your knowledge. Its not a principle thing. It gets a bit tiring if you are already a qualified coach and have to post the same sessions from start to finish.
There are very knowledgable coaches on here (and me) who are more than willing to help. |

I too have this topic. I was thinking of starting with a shot saved by gk then played to def. Is this a realistic start point? Do I then start with the forwards of the opposite team and coach them? Maybe coaching them that the defenders dont need to be marked as there is no obvious threat i.e goal scoring opportunity. Am i talking sense??

Hi
May I suggest that you start thinking from the precept that you don't mark space, you occupy it. The title should read In an SSG coach when to mark and when to cover. You can start the practise where you like, but into oppo GK is as good as any. Your defending players should then take up a position relative to the amount of pressure on the ball and I would reccommend they all drop to occupy space and encourage a pass to the FB's. You can then coach your 1st striker to put pressure on the ball (MARK) 2nd striker to occupy space and screen forward pass (cover). This is a start and you can now build up a picture and have a go at KF's and finishing it off. |
