Red face Level 2 SSG Make play predictable

Hello all!

just a quick one.. I was hoping for a few tips on coaching 'make play predictable'. Im quite confident I understand the method of coaching attacker 1, attacker 2, coach as a unit etc but im not to sure of the roles of certain positions.

Starting point - midfielder (on team not coached) passes ball to full back. So first thing, is to coach attacker 1 (putting full back under pressure) speed, angle of approach. Attacker 2 should be drifting inside, covering, plenty of communication. Now - is the midfielders role purely to 'balance' the team out, and to get into a position to prevent any balls being played by the full back down the line (goal side of the attacker1). Im just not to sure about what the midfielders role is.. then the defender on whichever side the ball is being played should push up, and the 2nd defender should be positioned at an angle where if the ball was played over defender 1, he could intercept - while still being in a good recovery position if play breaks down his side.

Sorry if this seems long winded and reads badly

Any advice is appreciated, cheers,

Bill

Here is how a candidate (who passed) approached this on my L2.

Nearest attacker is your shutdown, MIDFIELDER is your support and other attacker is your balance.

If the defender plays a square ball to his other attacker (Which is fine, the ball has not moved towards your goal) it is unrealistic to expect your forwards to form up on the other side, as the distance is too great for the sprint.

If you have formed up as I have suggested the balance attacker now becomes the shutdown, as he can get there, and the midfielder can also travel to support.

If you can get the shutdown and support with enough quality then the line ball forward is also going to be difficult to play due to the angles of your shutdown and support.

Something to be going on with anyway.
