Default 6v6 Dribbling

Hi all,

First time user so be patient please.

I have my assessment in 10 days ,
topics are 2v2 defending & 6v6 dribbling.
I am comfortable with the 2v2 but Iam having second thoughts with my start point for 6v6.
My start point was going to be a poor clearance to the midfielder
of the team I am coaching. However , it seems for an attacking topic I should be starting with a poor shot to the goalkeeper of the side I am coaching. Any advice please would be much appreciated.

A candidate on my course had this topic and he delivered a good point I would use.

With any attacking topic, you are looking for the following key factors.

1. Retain posession
2. Movement to create space
3. Movement to exploit space
4. End product (ideally goal, but can go back to 1.)

With dribbling, you need to emphasis to dribble only when you are in a situation when you are not going to lose possesion (1) Attacking players need to move into space to carry out above.

Point three is what was demo'd as I was saying above.

Get players not on the ball to move to space to take defenders away from the player dribbling.

End with a shot on goal or good pass.

Key factors on the actual dribble

Small, agile steps
Use all parts of foot, preferably both feet.
Change of speed/acceleration
Disguise/trick.

Good luck with the assessment, let us know how it went.

Thanks for the advice - much appreciated.

I am still unclear which is a better start point or preferred start point for assessments on attacking topics.

1.poor shot to the goalkeeper of the team I am coaching.
leads to create space as a team
GK - ball to wide defender
ball forward early to attacker- create space for dribble.
dribble opportunity / decison for ball retention.

or

2.poor clearance to the midfield player of the team I am coaching.
This then leads directly to topic in the correct area of field
Followed by coaching -
movement off ball-other attacker & midfield
lock up at the back
gk - communicate.

Hi

You have answered the question yourself by pointing out that the ball intercepted in MF lets you STRAIGHT into your topic.
