Default Level 2 - SSG Making Play Predictable - Advice Needed

Hi i have my level 2 final assesment coming up in a few weeks time and i'm looking for some advice on 6v6 Making play predicatble. I understand some parts but im unsure on others. Here's what i have so far -

Key Points

Showing opponents inside/outside
Reacting to 1st players position
changing team shape
body position
curved runs
  • Start position - Misplaced pass into GK who throws out to Def or opposition midfielder passes back into defender
  • 1st attacker must close down defender with curved run and show down the line, with 2nd attacker drifting inside to cover any cross field passes/back passes from the defender.
  • Midfielders role is simply to provide support and react to where the ball is pradictably going to go.
  • 1st Defender (Team being coached) should push up and put pressure on the attacker as it is likely the ball will be played down the line to him, and 2nd defender to drift across again and position himself to cover any balls in behind whilst maintaining the balance of the team.
As a general rule, i was always under the impression that you should be showing outside in the oppositions half and inside once in your own half as you will the be showing into congested areas. With this in mind, attackers should show outside, midfielders need to be clever and decide the best way to show dependent on team shape, and defenders show show inside. Obviously these all depend on the play at the time, but as a general rule, would you agree?

Also, bearing in mind that i'm supposed to be affecting the whole team, where does the GK fit into my session???

Any ideas or input would be welcomed.

Thanks

Seems like you have plenty of ideas to start with, always a good sign.

On where to show attackers. I was taught on my course to show the attackers to my support and balance, as you say, into the congested area.

I would stick with this, as it is simpler to coach.

General rule I use, nearest defender is my shutdown, next nearest support etc.

Start points are where the opposition has possession. e.g. Your midfielder makes a misplaced pass to their defender, then you are on topic to shape your team.

Coach GK to communicate, and be far enough off his line to sweep up a counter attack.

Get your key points out there, in clear short bursts. Praise and encourage success.

Hi,

First of all, to make the opponent predictable, you need all your units working together.

So your front man or nearest player to the ball decides when its time to press.

He has to press in a way so opponent is forced to play one direction obviously.

Supporting players have react to his body position and position themselves accordingly.

Also when you decide your playing area for your 6 vs 6, make it a little tight, this will enhance the chances of the defending team.

I always like my front players to force defenders to play wide and get my wide midfielders to show players inside to central areas

You may also want to concentrate on area of pitch as well, for example you could get your defending team to drop to half way and wait for the opponent, by doing this, space can become very tight and play will consequently become more predictable.

The gk is like a director of traffic as he can see everything in front of him. So his main job in your assessment is make sure players of his team are positoned correctly

I hope this replay has helped you and goodluck with your assessment

Default Making Play Predictable

Hi,
I passed my level 2 with this topic and a couple of important factors were showing the player INSIDE when defending in the attacking half of the pitch towards your cover and balance players, then show them OUTSIDE in your own half of the pitch.
Try and keep the starting point realistic as the tutors kept on about this and if it helps make sure you start to coach away from the ball as the session progresses don't get to bogged down with the player nearest the ball,if you've told him how to pressure a couple of times stand back and watch then the next time its done right praise him loudly and move on to the cover player etc. and progress from there.Just remember to coach the bigger picture and good luck!

Default making play predictable

for me this depends on the type of game i want to play.it could be high pressure defensive game or low pressure defensive game.

1.high pressure defensive game:- here i want to win the ball in the defensive half of the opposition, and then attack quickly.

2.low pressure defensive game:- here want to slow down the opposition, reduce the spaces between my players and launch a quick counter attack!

high pressure defensive game: gk gives the ball to the fullback; one striker presses the ball, the other striker and the attacking midfield/fhird striker both press with the intention of cancelling passing options.midfields give support and cover, ready to intercept any forward pass.my defense slides to the side of the ball.the fullback moves up to close the attacking winger, the closest centreback moves up slightly to give him cover and close the channel created by the fullback.the other two defenders(in flat four defense), give us defensive shape while checking on strikers.

showing inside or outside: the supporting player gives direction as to which side to direct the opponent. if there is no call from the support and you are confident on winning 1v1 then show him outside otherwise bring him in where there is traffic.

also: if the opponents have skillfull fullbacks, let the strikers close both fullbacks and the third striker go between the centrebacks to force gk into predictable long 50-50 ball.the rest of the team give supoort and fight to win the aerial ball.

low pressure defensive game:here we drop to our defensive half.the left striker closes the left chanell.the third striker and the second strikers slide to the left. the two midfields stand behind the strkers to complete V formations.so there will be two V formations that shall be sliding from left to centre and to the right.if the ball is played into the V then we close down quickly on the ball with cover provided on th sides and from behind.this forces the opponents to play the ball backwards and side to side.we stay patient and ready to attack with speed if we win possession.

this is in short what i would do.

goodluck.
