Default need to get some mental strength from my players

Hi.

I coach an U12 team in N.Ireland. We go into the last game of our season tomorrow against the league leaders and we currently trail them by two points. We have an excellent side but when it comes to facing this team my players havent done it on the pitch this season. We have faced them once already in the league which we lost 2-1, we lost against them in the main cup competition on penalties and we also lost in the semi final of the league cup against them 2-1 after extra time. We have ran them close but just dont seem to be able to have enough belief that we can actually beat them, well apart from me as I truely believe that we have the better team. We play a game last night and drew 2-2 after leading 2-0 with 10 minutes to play, so the confidence is knocked a bit. I need some sort of motivational help to get the boys picked up again as if they win tomorrow night, they are league champions. I know at senior level you can say "if they cant get themselves up for this kind of game, they shouldnt be playing football" but I dont think that applies to kids at this young age.

Any imput would be very much appreciated.

Sorry my post is too late to affect your match. May be they do not believe they could beat this team based upon previous experiences, which would make sense? I had the same problem on Sunday when we lost to the best team in the district again in the semi finals of the cup. We are going to win our league and they will win their league. We get closer to them every time but it is now three defeats, all narrow, in a row. I have been thinking about this since Sunday as it was the first game we have lost all season, we are under tens and so play seven a side. I think that the next time i play them i will atke the gamble of playing a different fromation and gamble on the element of surprise, as they know what we do andwe know what they do. It may work and if you always lose to them you have nothing to lose. The other alternative is to recruit better players but that is easier said then done.
