Default Tips for the ULittles

In another thread Cookie mentioned using witch hat cones or slalom poles for goals, and I coached for a couple of years before I realized that these "bigger" markers are really better for the U6s and U8s than the little cones so many of use. Little kids have trouble visualizing and the bigger the marker, the bigger the impact. Of course, they are more cumbersome... One year I drafted a parent just to set out the field and be the keeper of the cones.

Richard posted this in another post, but I'd forgotten this game, but its a good one for ULittles.

Basic Passing Game U7: Keep Your Yard Clean
Create a 5 - 10 yard neutral area that no player can enter. Use a minimum of one

ball per two players (for best results use a ball for each player). On command,
each team tries to keep it's side free of balls by kicking through the neutral zone
to the opposite side. Play for a specific time limit.

Progressions

Must use two touches.
Only use inside of foot.
Only use instep (laces) when kicking.
Increase size of neutral zone for more advanced players.
Use fewer balls.
