Drill: Dribbling - drag the ball across the body
Purpose
To improve the dribbling skill of dragging the ball across an opponent
Drill area
30 v 30 layout
Set Up
  • Mark out area with cones
  • Distance to first set of cones 10 - 15 meters.
  • Distance between cones 4 - 6 meters
  • Number of zig zag cones suitable for age and ability
  • Supply of balls
Structure
Player dribbles the ball quickly to first cone. Player then drags the ball with big or little toe across the front of the first cone and around the back of the second cone. Repeat the dragging skill at all the cones.
Coaching Tips
  • Run quickly with the ball to first cone
  • Big exaggeration to strike the ball
  • Cut with big or little toe
  • Quick after the ball
  • Head up
  • Repeat on next cone
  • Quick between cones
