T and V sprint drills

With all the following drills, the coach should take care to consider the requirements and needs of the players, paying particular attention the the age and fitness levels of the players taking part.

T sprint and agility drill

  • Teams of 3 or 4 players
  • Place cones in a T shape 5 - 8 meters apart
  • Start and finish at the base of the T
  • Drill is a pure sprinting drill, players to run as quickly as possible
  • Depending on age and fitness of players repeat for 5 - 10 times
  • Players rest when other players in the team are running


V sprint and agility drill

  • Teams of 3 or 4 players
  • Place cones in a V shape 8 -10 meters apart
  • Start and finish at the base of the point of V
  • Drill is a pure sprinting drill, players to run as quickly as possible
  • Depending on age and fitness of players repeat for 5 - 10 times
  • Players rest when other players in the team are running
