FA LEVEL 1 COACHING – FIND A FRIEND -PROGRESSIONS 1 + 2
This progression follows on from “FIND A FRIEND” – START OF THE PRACTICE

PROGRESSION 1
- Play Two v Two in the middle.
- Two players to combine together and to play to a free target player as quickly as possible
- Target players must play the ball back to the team that has passed them the ball
- Game continues
- Competition is to see who can keep possession for the most passes
COACH TO ENCOURAGE
- All players to be on their toes and alert, ready to receive a pass
- Quick movement to find space and to support the player on with the ball
- Good communication between players, both verbally and with hand gestures
- Accurate passing
- Turning, dribbling and running with the ball if appropriate
- Quick, first time passing when appropriate
PROGRESSION 2
- Play Two v Two in the middle.
- Two players to combine together and to play to a free target player as quickly as possible
- Target players can pass the ball to another target player or back to the team that has passed them the ball
- Game continues
- Competition is to see who can keep possession for the most passes
COACH TO ENCOURAGE
- Players must play with their heads up and decide on the best passing options, to another target player or to a middle player
Middle players must move to find space and support the target players. Early support movement and communication will really help the players
