FA LEVEL 1 COACHING – MOVES IN TWOS WITH PROGRESSIONS
For many football coaches the FA Level 1 coaching course is the first football coaching course they take. For those of you that have taken the FA Level 1 course or are thinking of taking it, over the next ? days we will be posting a series of progressions to the coaching session, Moves in twos. There will be a video for each day and a downloadable PDF. On the last day we will post the complete video and PDF.

FA LEVEL 1 COACHING – MOVES IN TWOS WITH PROGRESSIONS
START OF THE PRACTICE
ORGANISATION
- Players in pairs with a ball between them.
- Distance between players approximately 10 yards
- Size of the area is relevant to the number of players and the age and ability of the players
- Have different coloured marker discs
THE PRACTICE
- All players playing at the same time
- Players pass the ball between themselves
COACH TO ENCOURAGE
- Players to be on their toes and alert, ready to receive a pass
- Use both feet to pass the ball
- Pass first time if appropriate
- Players to play with their head up
- Control the ball out of their feet and look up before passing “Picture the pass”
- Use the side foot technique of passing.
- Accurate passing
FA LEVEL 1 COACHING – MOVES IN TWOS WITH PROGRESSIONS
PROGRESSION 1
- Players to receive the ball, turn with the ball
- Run five yards with the ball, turn again with the ball and run back five yards with the ball
- Players to get their head up and picture the pass, before passing to their partner
- Repeat
COACH TO ENCOURAGE
- Good turn when receiving the ball
- Keep their head up when running with the ball
- Quick turn with the ball
- Get their head up and an accurate pass to partner
- Use both feet
- Receiving player to be on their toes, alert and ready to receive the pass
- Good communication from receiving player
