FOOTBALL TRAINING – PASS IN THREES  – SET AND GO

 

ORGANISATION

 

Lay out 3 cones in a triangle shape. The distance between the cones should be 10 – 15 yards, depending on the age and ability of the players.

 

To start the practice, Player A passes to player B and follows to support the pass. Player B initially checks away from the ball, before checking back to receive the pass. Player B sets the ball for player A to pass across the front of the cone into the supporting run of player B. Player A takes the place of player B, practice is repeated round the triangle 

KEY TECHNICAL ASPECTS

 

Focus on the technique of the push pass, get the ball out of the feet, picture the pass, use the side – foot, strike through the middle / centre of the ball *Accurate, well weighted, timed passes, along the floor *Timing of the movement from the receiving player to check away from the ball, before receiving * Supporting player to consider angle and distance of support *Set the ball with sympathy, so it can passed first time *Communication, both verbally and using body language * Timing of the runs and the pass
